About Paddle North
Matt is the co-founder of Paddle North, a Minnesota based paddle board, kayak and outdoor goods manufacturer and retailer. The idea was born when Matt and his business partner, former high school classmate Peter Mogck, met up and talked about their wives wanting paddle boards. They shared the common frustration that paddle boards available at the time did not represent Midwest water culture, and were not optimized for paddling on lakes and rivers. Matt was working in engineering services to design and manufacture consumer products, and Peter was working in marketing and sales at an industrial fastener company. It was quickly realized that Matt and Peter's complementary skill sets were perfect to launch the business. Paddle North started in 2014 in a garage, and has expanded to 20+ employees with 4 locations in both Minnesota and Michigan. The company has expanded its product offering and has remained committed to helping people spend more time outside.
