About Ivy
Let me begin by sharing my personal journey to becoming a coach.
Many clients are curious about what led a coach to pursue coaching as a career. Some coaches, like myself, transition into this profession after gaining valuable life experiences in other fields. I believe these experiences—both positive and challenging—shape a coach into someone who can offer profound insights and perspective to facilitate transformation.
My journey started with a Bachelor of Science degree in Scientific and Technical Communications from the University of Minnesota. While this path didn't align with my long-term career aspirations, it equipped me with valuable skills and connections that proved beneficial later on.
During my studies, I also pursued a minor in Rhetorical Arts, which deepened my passion for effective communication—both written and verbal. This foundation fueled my love for writing, blogging, and fostering meaningful conversations.
Following graduation, I ventured into the vibrant world of high-end entertainment establishments. Over nearly a decade, I had the privilege of running various venues frequented by professional athletes, celebrities, and a diverse array of personalities. It was a dynamic environment that constantly challenged and inspired me.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, I fulfilled my dream of owning multiple hospitality businesses—a beautiful restaurant, a wine bar, a farm-to-table eatery, and a cocktail lounge. These ventures were not only creatively fulfilling but also deeply satisfying in their social impact.
Despite finding success and fulfillment in the hospitality industry, I've always embraced change and growth. Life's journey is about evolving and pursuing new aspirations. After years in hospitality, I felt a compelling shift towards what truly resonated with me: mentoring and coaching others to discover and pursue their passions.
Transitioning into coaching felt like a natural progression of my lifelong role as a mentor to those close to me. I found immense fulfillment in empowering individuals to achieve their dreams and transform their lives. There's an indescribable joy in witnessing others reach their goals and lead fulfilling lives—it's a privilege I cherish deeply.
Today, as a dedicated coach, I bring a wealth of diverse experiences and a genuine passion for helping others navigate their own journeys of growth and self-discovery.
