About Wesley

I am a proud triple-Golden-Gopher – I earned my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.B.A., and J.D., all from the University of Minnesota. Before graduating magna cum laude from UMN Law School, I was a National Finalist for the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court and recipient of the University of Minnesota Intellectual Property Award.

I am now a Registered Patent Attorney licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and a member of Pennsylvania and Minnesota state bars. Having a strong passion for entrepreneurship, I started Gallium Law in 2014, and we proudly celebrated our 10th anniversary earlier this year.

At Gallium, our practice encompasses virtually all intellectual property (IP) law aspects, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, litigation, portfolio management, due diligence, and infringement and validity counseling. We take great pride in our clients' accomplishments. I am honored to have helped our clients secure large settlements with Fortune 100 companies, get acquired by some of the largest companies in the world, and build IP portfolios valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Our team has also achieved successful outcomes in federal court, most notably by securing several permanent injunctions, which we have then enforced against the world's most prominent sales platform and its infringing products.

Before attending law school, I worked for 12 years in various engineering-related capacities at Medtronic and GN ReSound, including as Chair of Medtronic's Released Products Board. I also started several companies, including Innovelis, Inc. After graduating from the U of M law school, I worked as a patent attorney with Baker Hostetler in Philadelphia. However, my entrepreneurial spirit led me to start Gallium Law, where I am able to serve numerous start-up companies and solo inventors with big dreams!

In my spare time, I enjoy writing comedy sketches and jokes (for the stand-up act I swear I'll perform one day), playing cards, and hiking. I am an animal lover, a compassionate vegan, and an avid environmentalist. I was also an accomplished rower in college, going undefeated during the spring 1996 season until placing fifth in the Open four at the IRA national championship regatta. After college, I set an American record for the longest distance rowed in one hour on a Concept 2 rowing machine. I've also run ten marathons, including two finishes at the Boston Marathon, and recently had two knee surgeries to repair the damage from all that running :)

I look forward to staying connected with the U of Mi alumni community.
