About Rip Current Sports LLC
Hello! My name is Jose Gallagher. I am a UMN alum from the class of 1998! I am CEO of Maryland-based Business Rip Current Sports, LLC, a company that recently designed and produced its first production run: a new patent pending swim training device.
Introduced at the January 2022 American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Napa Clinic, Dual Boards are designed to change lives by creating swimmers faster and creating faster swimmers. Almost a year later, Dual Boards are being used by beginner and elite swimmers alike to become swimmers, improve times, then swim faster.
Dual Boards take a swimmer from zero ability to hero ability in sometimes less than an hour and typically no more than three. This is a product for all ages and abilities, from the four-year-old to 94-year-old!
Rip Current Sports LLC won $10,000 at the 2020 Salisbury University Perdue School of Business Shore Hatchery Competition.

Rip Current Sports was founded in 2021 by swim instructor and entrepreneur, Jose-Luis Gallagher.
Jose’s goal was to manufacture a new swimming product made for all swimmers, from the very beginner to the advanced swimmer. Recognizing the need for products to help develop buoyancy, body position and kick, he created Dual Boards.
Since their inception, training with Dual Boards has helped beginner swimmers surf the water, and intermediate and advanced swimmers improve their body position and beat their goal times.
Today Rip Current Sports strives daily to create the foundation of this start-up business; made by a swimmer and for all swimmers!
